It is interesting that the photo detail on the 3D models in VE 3D are only available when you have the Aerial or Hybrid option turned on. When the roads are on, the model is just plain. That’s just the default James. To turn the details (Textures) for a building on in this mode, hit SHIFT-D to toggle them on and Off. SHIFT-B will toggle the buiuldings on and off.
The logic for this default behavior is that the details become a distraction to the user when they are viewing the road map style. Presumably in this mode you are doing something very task oriented, like getting driving directions, versus something more exploratory where you want to submerge in the virtual environment.

Yea the default behavior makes sense. When VE has worldwide high res imagery, it will be a moot point.
