Planet Geospatial Setback

January 29th, 2007 · 1 Comment · Uncategorized

Well the php script hung again bringing down Planet GS once again. I think its time to dump the php and move back to python. At least there I understood what I was doing. It will take me a couple days to get it back in order, but it will be back.
For [...]

Planet Geospatial LT

January 28th, 2007 · 3 Comments · Uncategorized

I got it back up and running, but it seems the large amount of feeds had caused PHP to time out. I’ve got a subset of feeds in there right now and I’ll start adding the others back in over th next day or two.
So if you don’t see your blog in Planet GS [...]

Planet Geospatial Is Back Up - Sorta

January 27th, 2007 · No Comments · Uncategorized

Well I’ve got it back up and running. There was/is some sort of weird PHP4/5 thing going on that I’m still trying to debug. Anyway I’ll keep at it and we should be back in business on Monday.

Update and Planet Geospatial Status

January 26th, 2007 · 8 Comments · Uncategorized

Planet Geospatial is down while I try and figure what has happened in the last 2 days. PGS is supposed to build once every hour but for one reason or another it builds every time someone hits the page which is why it has been running really slow lately. I’ll keep you updated [...]

Sneak Peak at the New Planet Geospatial

January 5th, 2007 · 3 Comments · GIS

Believe me it is still in alpha stage, but if you’d like to see what PGS 2.0 will look like click below:
http://zhun.pair.com/spatiall/planetgs/
Believe me it needs some work. I still need to get the cron working so that it builds automatically, but when that gets figure out, the old site goes away. You’ll notice [...]

It has been quite a year here on my blog. Looking back at the stats I’ve pulled out the top 10 posts by popularity (number of comments, visits, trackbacks) and have listed them below.
10. The big picture of ArcGIS Server
Here I try and convince the world that with ESRI supporting OGC and other “open [...]

Blog Has Moved to Wordpress.com

December 21st, 2006 · 11 Comments · Uncategorized

Yep, I’ve decided that hosting my own blog isn’t for me anymore and I’ve already moved to Wordpress.com for my “host”.  The URL has changed and all the permalinks are exactly the same.  Now I don’t have to worry about updates or why my host changed something that broke Wordpress.  It is somehow relaxing knowing [...]

Blog Support for Mobile Browsers

December 12th, 2006 · 3 Comments · GIS

While on my trek to rural Oklahoma and the land of 14.4 AOL modem connections, I began to rely on my Treo 700p for email and web access. One thing I noticed that navigating my blog was impossible. Well after some work and a great little plugin my blog now works on all [...]

I’m heading out first thing tomorrow to visit the in-laws in Prue, OK. We’ll be visiting my wife’s Grandmother’s farm (yes that is a dirt road in front of it). Its been pretty cold there so I’m a little nervous as I don’t have the proper clothing (I had a jacket on today [...]

ESRI Access to Planet Geospatial and My Blog Is Restored

December 5th, 2006 · 4 Comments · GIS

OK, it was as simple as ESRI.com overloading my hosted server:
The XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX IP address was firewalled on the server. Most likely there were a high number of connections coming in from this IP and causing load issues on the server. ESRI.com should no longer have any issues reaching the site, I have removed [...]

Some IPs Are Being Blocked by My Host, Not Intentionally

December 5th, 2006 · 1 Comment · Uncategorized

It looks like for some reason that my host is blocking IP address including ESRI. Believe me it isn’t intentional and we are working on figuring out what the problem is. This includes both http://www.spatiallyadjusted.com and http://www.planetgs.com as they are hosting on the same server.

Should Blogger.com Feeds Be Removed From Planet Geospatial

November 2nd, 2006 · 26 Comments · GIS

Yep it happens like clockwork, Blogger feeds are again polluting Planet Geospatial. But it isn’t just Planet Geospatial. I got the same spamming in my RSS aggregator (FeedDemon).

I’ve been telling everyone that the new Planet Geospatial built on SimplePie will resolve the problems I’ve been having, but it gets spammed by [...]

Blogger Spamming Planet Geospatial Again

September 26th, 2006 · 6 Comments · GIS

Yea, thanks for all the emails. I’m not sure what Google is up to, but whatever they did caused every Blogger blog to spam Planet Geospatial. It should pass eventually. Right now it doesn’t matter if you use FeedBurner or not as every Blogger feed has been reset for some reason.

Planet Geospatial and Blogger

September 19th, 2006 · 9 Comments · GIS

I’ve noticed that whatever Google is doing, they are screwing up the Planet GS feeds. Even using FeedBurner, the issues still rear their ugly head and the new beta Blogger doesn’t seem to matter at all. Even non Blogger feeds such as The Earth is Square and Ed Parson’s blog are being screwed [...]
