What ever happened to knowing what your friends are doing by talking to them? The example of logging a shopping trip to the grocery store seems a bit lame. Surely people have more to do with their time than log trips. Now if you could tie this into a mobile device that alerts when your near a friend………..that would be cool!

I’m with Andy on this one. Social networking is neither social nor networking.
What happened to making new friends when you go somewhere? Or taking care of the usual planning that goes into a trip. let alone trying to now meet up with your friends that are “only 90 miles away” while you’re there.
Anything to do with Facebook is inherently evil and a waste of time, stealing us from our real lives, and giving Facebook more of our information.

Dear Andy and Bubba, you probably won’t be surprised to know that I disagree with you :), though in a strange way I agree with some elements of your sentiments. Anyway, I’ve written a somewhat long response on my blog.
Cheers,
Peter.
P.S. Actually it’s really part 1 of a response, there are some points I didn’t get to, but will come back to in a future post.

I am one who is for Social Networking. It is like saying “I shouldn’t have an answering machine for my phone because people should only talk to me”. Our social network capacity is only about 15-20 people. With Facebook we can expand that to 100+ without impacting our lives. If I can meet up with one of those 100 people while away on business, then that’s worth this little program.
