ESRI Business BP/Dev Summit Hotels Sold Out

Three people today have told me that the conference rate at Hilton Hotel is sold out (rooms are available, but they run about $300/night) and the Wyndam hotel is essentially sold out (only single nights are available) for both the Business Partner Conference and the Developer Summit. So if you want to attend either, you are on your own. Best of luck!

No room at the inn for weary ArcObjects developers

UPDATE: Rooms might be available at the Hilton now. YMMV

I tried to book rooms at both hotels last week for both conferences and they told me no. I was able to get some of our Dev team into the Wyndam, but the overlap of the conferences causes the rooms to be sold out the night of the 17th. The Dev Summit is big enough to be its own conference now and shouldn’t be held captive by the BP conference.

What is hillarious is that I just got my DevSummit flyer from ESRI in the mail today and it says I can call the Wyndham for special rates. RIGHT, they are sold out. :p

OK, so I’m an idiot for not booking sooner, but where should I stay if I can’t stay at the Hilton or Wyndham? I stayed at the Spa Casino a couple years ago, but I didn’t really care for it.

I just called the Wyndam and they are sold out the 17th, but they have “a couple rooms” for the rest of the week. Not being able to stay there the 17th causes huge problems.

I can confirm that the Hilton is sold out.

Not sure what we are going to do, but we won’t be staying at the Wyndham.

Wow, I made reservations 2 weeks ago with no problem. I guess everyone gets focused after the new year.

  5. AlbertW says:

James, you are supposed to remind me to get reservations, not tell me that they are sold out! ;)

Better get my rear in gear.

Can you explain to me what you mean the Hilton is sold out but rooms are available?

The Wyndham is a dump anyway.

  8. James Fee says:

@Gretch: The $185 ESRI rate is sold out. That means you have to pay the market rate.

@Lefty: I’m staying at Hotel Zoso down the street. I felt dirty after staying at the Wyndham last year that I’d never stay there again even if they updated it this year (which they did I’m told). Filthy is an understatement. Give me Plasma TVs and WiFi that doesn’t cost $10/day and I’ll be happy.

  10. I stayed last year and will be staying this year at Courtyard by Marriott. Their rates (when I booked last week) are cheaper than either the Wyndham or Hilton. $170/night. I don’t know how that compares to Hotel Zoso.

There are big rooms, an exercise room, a po0l, free Internet access and a spacious lobby.

What, you don’t like cigarette burns in your bedding, the peeling wallpaper or the TV unit in the middle of the room due to poor setup at the Wyndham?

  12. Morten says:

Zoso is pretty cool, and only 5-10min walk away.

  13. Matt Priour says:

    @James,
Thought you were skipping it this year. Looking at the proposed conference schedule I only see 2 or 3 technical sessions that I would be interested in that weren’t on the program last year. I was 95% sure I was going to skip the DevSummit this year, but this news easily pushes me 100% sure.

The Swedes all stayed at The Springs last year and liked it. It closer to the conference than Hotel Zoso or the Courtyard and much nicer than the Wyndham was last year.

We’re staying at Hotel Zoso. It’s a really nice hotel and there are still rooms available. It’s close to down and 5 min walk to the Wyndham :)

  16. Mel says:

Last time i went to Palm Springs (early 90′s) we stayed at the Motel 6. It was cheap, and had a pool. not quite walking distance.

@Matt – Consider attending the ESRI PUG conference in Houston. It’s free. If you’re feeling sadistic, you might find the session where users from large oil corporations run through “the list” with an ESRI rep on stage especially entertaining.
