Create ArcGIS Server Code and Win $15,000

I’m frankly astounded at that prize. Last year had some nice ones, but this is quite a step up from a GPS unit or an Xbox 360. Better get coding because it will take more than a Flickr task to get that money.

  1. First Place - $15,000
  2. Second Place - $7,500
  3. Third Place - $5,000

Any intelligent fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent. It takes a touch of genius — and a lot of courage — to move in the opposite direction.

Great Einstein quote James. I need to commit that one to memory and meditate on it nightly.

I think a great piece of code would be creating a custom datasource based on Spatial SQL against the SDE. Hopefully this would give you high performance rendering and identification while relieving you of the need to publish an MXD to AGS. At least, that’s what I think it would do.

FYI - third place is actually $2,500.

My sample allows user to interact with maptips thru task results, it was a pain to get working!
