MapDotNet Support for SQL Server 2008 Spatial

I’m sure many of us on the MapDotNet email list got the news that full support for SQL Server 2008 Spatial is right around the corner.

MapDotNet Server 6.5 is currently undergoing beta testing and will be released in November 2007. In addition to support for SQL Server 2008, it will provide support for the new features in Microsoft Virtual Earth 6.0, and will include upgraded map rendering capabilities, support for Windows Communication Foundation, profiling, event logging, and improved diagnostics.

Was there some sort of planned “event” for SQL Server 2008 today because both Manifold and Safe Software also announced SQL Server 2008 Spatial support.

    I just hope the announced product support will pressure Microsoft to get MS SQL 2008 Spatial out the door ontime (and sorry the latter half of Q4 doesn’t cut it–i.e. Vista). Every day I spend fighting with Oracle Spatial is another step closer to being re-classed as an Oracle DBA… Ugh.

    Help me, Obi-ted Kummert (VP of Data and Storage Platform Division at Microsoft); you’re my only hope.

    @James,

    It’s all due to MS imminently releasing the SQL Server CTP (Community Technology Preview), which will allow joe public to download it.

    Sweet. I think MDNS + SQL Server 2008 is going to be a popular combo.

    I’ll be an average “J” snapping this up the moment it is available. FINALLY, freedom from ESRI compressed binary!

    I am using Map Dot Net 2007 and SQl server 2008 Spatial.

    I would like to build find shortest routine function on my website.

    Please advice!
