ArcGIS 9.3 in 2008

June 18th, 2007 · 8 Comments · ESRI

Not that it is news, but 9.3 will not be out in this calendar year. You’ll need to make 9.2 work for almost 1 more year. Should be good for developers, at least you know that your clients won’t be installing 9.3 anytime soon.

I love the ESRI Salesman graphic. You know he’s so ready to go out there and sell 9.3 today though.

Actually, the way ESRI pitches it, 9.3 will be a series of service packs that introduce the functiona.ity and will culimate with a final “service pack” in 2008 that will be called 9.3

Speaking of updates, there is a patch available for ArcGIS Server that takes care of a performance issue I was having. Perhaps some of you all are experiencing this problem as well and can benefit from this patch. See more here:

Nice of them to publicize, eh?

It seems as though any patch or service pack ESRI releases for AGS seems to re-register many of the .dlls and prompt you to configure the SOC and SOM? This get’s very annoying…specifically on a production server.

Ipur: if your school has a licensing agreement with ESRI then you would be able to get one-year evaluation CDs for your class from ESRI. Check with ESRI’s GIS for Higher Education for more info.
