Planet GS Down, but There Is Good News

Yes you can see, the PHP lite Planet GS has finally crashed. The view is not pretty.

The good news is that the new/old Planet GS built on Python is just about ready to go. I’ve got the DNS to change over so as soon as that takes, we’ll be back to having a working Planet Geospatial.

You should really just build your site on asp.net and get it over with. You wouldn’t have all these outages and its easy as hell to develop in. Plus you cann’t beat the new ajax framework. http://ajax.asp.net/ajaxtoolkit

C’mom, just bite the bullet and rewrite the entire thing in Rails… You know you want to, just so you can say you did it.

Then you can create a ArcIMS Viewer using Rails and make it open source…..

I agree with David If you do the viewer please make it available also for MapServer ;-)

In totally unrelated news – a search for James Fee in google returns you first. Before today it was always the photographer.
