Planet Geospatial is down while I try and figure what has happened in the last 2 days. PGS is supposed to build once every hour but for one reason or another it builds every time someone hits the page which is why it has been running really slow lately. I’ll keep you updated on its status as the day goes on.
UPDATES:
13:23 MST - I’m still trying to figure out what is wrong. I’m a little weak on PHP compared to other languages so I’m having trouble debugging the issue. I’m still trying to figure it out, but I’m not going to be available this weekend to work on it. Right now Planet Geospatial might be down all weekend. Believe me I’m going through withdrawal right now too.
07:35 MST Jan 27 - I’m much closer to getting this figured out. I’m not going to be getting it up this morning as I’ve got to go house hunting, but it should be up either later today or early tomorrow. I’m thinking it was a little PHP4/PHP5 issue.

I guess we should give James a big round of thanks for keeping Planet Geospatial up and running. I know it can be a thankless task and a big time sink. Keep up the good work, James.

I blame Chad, and I’m getting withdrawl too, I did notice it has been going slow since around the time you added images to posts, coincidence?

It was slower because it was PHP and was somewhat dynamic rather than the previous static version. I would have kept the first one, but it kept messing up blogger and even wordpress feeds. That is like 90% of all feeds in the system so it had to go. I’m not really sure why its rebuilding itself every time even though I have it set to not do so.

I did notice that. Another thing I noticed was that some old posts were appearing again as new at the top of the list. Also, some new posts would appear below older posts and not at the top. I didn’t think it was a big deal anyway, I just hope you can fix it. You’ve been doing a great job so far, thanks James

The reasons posts change is because of blogs. I can only read the data published and if a blog changes that date it will appear at the top.
