ESRI Removes All ArcGIS Server Posts From Support Forums

December 15th, 2006 · 8 Comments · ArcGIS Server, ESRI, GIS

Hit UNDO!I’m sure we can chalk this up to “webmaster error”, but as of this posting, there are no ArcGIS Server posts prior to today. Now is your chance to become ArcGIS Server MVP! ;)
Seriously though, I assume this is a result of creating a new ArcGIS Server forum for the combined ArcGIS Server and ArcSDE and then just removing the old forum from the list. I can’t imagine that everything is lost and I bet you’ll see an ArcGIS Server 9.1 forum appear soon.

As of right now, if you search for any information about ArcGIS Server, you get only the results for 30 posts. That is right, only 30 forum posts exist right now for ArcGIS Server on the support site. People are going to be grumpy.

Update - from the comments:

We are working on restoring the old forums threads now and sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.

Update 2 - from the forums:

Hello ArcGIS Server users,

All of the old posts have been republished to our site, and we will be working to fold them into the new structure.

Our apologies for the confusion and any inconvenience caused by these changes.

I’m so freaking pissed right now. I can’t find my forum posting from before where I was talking with someone. Do I have to start over?

A clean slate is always good. I’m thinking about doing the same with a bug tracker I’m acquainted with…

So I guess those still running ArcGIS Server 9.1 are SOL eh Gary? ;)

We appreciate your patience while we work on this.

OK, it takes them over a day to post something? Are you kidding me?

I rely on ArcGIS for my lively hood and they treat the support site like a joke.

In the end this is what I see. ESRI responding to James’ blog and not people who post in the forums yesterday. Not to pick on James, but why couldn’t someone at least take the time to respond yesterday to posts in the forums?

I pay big bucks for maintenance and this crap happens all too frequently.

anon, it looks like they added a disclaimer at the top (i don’t have a clue when that was added so you might have been right).

I do see posts are back in the forums so I assume things are almost back in order.

So you gonna change the title James?

  • 8 James Fee // Dec 15, 2006 at 8:49 pm

In case you didn’t notice AlbertW, I don’t change titles of my posts unless I misspelled or for gross incompetence.
