The Virtual Earth team is taking feature requests for upcoming releases of Virtual Earth. I’d love to see the API extended to give developers access to the polygons, polylines and points now available in collections. A simple way to import or export these points would be superb!

Hi James - The Virtual Earth API supports loading a Collection today - But it only renders Polygons and Polylines as their label points. We are working on updating the API to take on these geometry types as well. We have public methods for drawing polygons and Polylines today, we just need to hook up the Collection processing code to these drawing methods.
While we are working on that, here is a simple example of an application that loads and displays a Collection of points:

just 4 or 5 lines of Javascript to add a Collection to the map. more details at http://dev.live.com

Seeing how it is MS, they should launch their own EO satellite with 5cm resolution. This way MS could regularly update their imagery and bypass any middlemen (and solve 1/3rd of their functionality requests). What else is MS going to do with that pile of cash?
Probably the best way to colonize space is for Google and MS to get into the launch business.
