Image History in Google Earth/Maps

Google EarthWhat happens to the imagery when Google (or Microsoft for that matter) updates their image database? Does Google allow people to access this data or does it disappear off into the digital wastebasket?

    You can still access many previous releases of the map tiles in Google Maps if you know the parameters. Or see this site for a demo:

    Why is it that the green areas of google earth is blurry and you cant make out any detail????
