At the Plenary

Well I’m sitting at the plenary ready to hear what Jack has to say. The setup seems the same as last year, widescreens everywhere.

  1. Some rockin’ music, too.

  2. Sean Gillies says:

James, have a great time at Camp Krusty! Any sign of Gabbo yet?

is that a new pan function?

  4. Yes, and I haven’t seen the new “map frame” feature before either… The open APIs sound very exiciting. I am glad to see the collaboration with OGC, etc.

Before you get too amped up, remember that this is the super glossy version of things. Hammer them on what OGC services will be supported at release of 9.2 – WMS for sure, but WFS? WCF? What about SLD? Will ArcIMS produce legends? And be sure to ask lots of questions re: licensing – I’ve heard they want to have a run time license (per-socket) for the Web ADF, as well as the Server. Dig deep on this, and be sure to post about what you find out.

  9. If people want to meetup for lunch on monday in between the plenary sessions: meet 12PM-12:10PM at entrance to Exhibit Hall E (leaving Plenary, turn left, look left), look for the nerd with a macbook… Email: atheken+esri-uc@gmail.com

Dave I saw WFS on a slide, but does anyone really care about WFS? ;)
