chief-dont-like.jpgI’ve been getting quite a bit of email and IM traffic over what I like and what I don’t like. Mostly it is in regards to what I post on this blog. As a public service message I thought I’d like to list what I don’t like. Feel free to print this list out and attach it to your workstation so you’ll know what side of any discussion I’ll be on.

So that leaves ArcGIS Engine with Oracle. :)

Classic James! I can’t wait to meet you at the meetup. Perfect post for a Monday.

I’m French Canadian so I’m not on the list. :D

  • 3 Erin // Jul 31, 2006 at 12:41 pm

Don’t forget .NET av8tor. So its ArcGIS Engine using .NET with Oracle.

    Oh on Windows.

  • 4 Brandon // Jul 31, 2006 at 1:09 pm

Wow…you could have just said, “I hate computers and everything associated with them,” and saved yourself some typing :D

  • 5 AVUser // Jul 31, 2006 at 1:10 pm

Dude, if you hate ESRI so much why do you blog about them.

  • 6 Erin // Jul 31, 2006 at 1:10 pm

AVUser, he’s being sarcastic here. ;)

  • 7 James Fee // Jul 31, 2006 at 1:12 pm

    @Brandon

Actually I just dumped out a list of tags from my blog. You can also use this list for things I do like.

  • 8 Sean Gillies // Jul 31, 2006 at 1:17 pm

Canadians? Me too. It’s their flapping heads and beady little eyes!

  • 9 James Fee // Jul 31, 2006 at 1:19 pm

Sean, they are everywhere too. They make you think that there are like 10 of them up there, but there must be hundreds.

  • 10 Sean Gillies // Jul 31, 2006 at 1:24 pm

Canadians have completely infiltrated the geospatial biz here in Fort Collins. If you don’t believe me, ask Dave Bouwman!

  • 11 Daniel // Jul 31, 2006 at 1:47 pm

James, you hate things? The world really is ending.

  • 12 Infran // Jul 31, 2006 at 5:25 pm

Tough room where you don’t like ArcGIS Explorer, ArcGlobe, Google Earth and World Wind.

  • 13 Jason Birch // Jul 31, 2006 at 5:43 pm

Darn it James; I never woulda subscribed to your blog if I’d a known you don’t like Canadians…

  • 14 waban star // Jul 31, 2006 at 9:54 pm

    So what do you Like?

  • 15 Bill Dollins // Aug 1, 2006 at 5:03 am

I pile on for clowns and programmers!

  • 16 James Fee // Aug 1, 2006 at 6:14 am

    @waban star

    Well I like:

    long walks at sunset
    nice people
    world peace
    bunnies (but not rabbits)
    ziggy
    little baby ducks
    sweating to the oldies
flip-flops (but not running in them)

  • 17 waban star // Aug 1, 2006 at 7:18 am

Well was just wondering… since you have a GIS blog and don’t like GIS apps. How about ENVI, MicroDem, GPSTrackMaker? The concept of GIS itself? This is only a test.

  • 18 Erin // Aug 1, 2006 at 8:33 am

I think he was just being sarcastic. I think by including everything that he’s posted on (at least that is what he aluded to) he’s just saying that he’s said negative things about everything.

  • 19 Doug // Aug 1, 2006 at 8:50 am

I think that the basic problem here is that some people aren’t getting the sarcasm. In the future I would suggest using the sarcasm tag, e.g.

I too hate all things GIS related! That is why I regularly read your blog!

Also I noticed that oracle was missing from the list, so I figured that you were actually an Oracle shill. And people complain about ESRI’s prices…

  • 20 SGD // Aug 1, 2006 at 8:55 am

You’re not a GIS professional unless you have a love/hate relationship with ESRI.

  • 21 James Fee // Aug 1, 2006 at 9:04 am

    i don’t like using [sarcasm][/sarcasm]

  • 22 Doug // Aug 1, 2006 at 9:39 am

James I think you missed the sarcasm in my suggestion ;-)

  • 23 James Fee // Aug 1, 2006 at 9:40 am

    and you missed mine! ;)

  • 24 Chad // Aug 1, 2006 at 11:48 am

Heck.. you made my sarcasm meter explode!

  • 25 Tyler // Aug 1, 2006 at 1:20 pm

As a Canadian, I fully plan on infiltrating James Fee’s company once his blog starts being traded on the free market.
