On Windows XP, SR2...

I've been able to use the beta 4 version for less than a minute at a time. It locks up on me while loading, or soon after the earth appears.

I have the same problem both with the free version, and the Pro version.

When installing the free version (on my home computer) the earthps.dll had a regiser error message - it wouldn't register, and couldn't be registered manually. This might be a cause of the crashing, but I didn't get this message when installing the Pro version at work.

Did you note that the Spring 2006 ArcNews had information about the beta release of ArcGIS Explorer? But go to the ESRI site, and no download is availble....

James, saw a message recently on the ESRI listserve wheres someone was concerned about implementing ArcGIS server at a state agency and its complexity. I have been following yours and other developers' sites for a little while and was wondering about your thoughts on this, as I will be travelling this road too, shortly. Is there a better cookbook out there than what is provided in ESRI documentation? ANy trials and tribulations you could start posting? I am a well-versed GIS desktop and web-GIS user, but NOT a hardcore Programmer, so anything I can be aware of before going into the room with our IT professional, would be most helpful. Thanks in advance...

I'm immensely happy with the clean-up on the layers. One less publicized feature that many people will appreciate is the ability to adjust the terrain quality in Options.

It still doesn't do the Matterhorn justice, however...
