According to Directions Magazine Jack Dangermond says ArcGIS Explorer will be released in June. I posted a couple weeks ago that ESRI’s ArcGIS Explorer page changed the release date from Second Quarter to “Later this year” so either this is a new update to the release date or Jack hasn’t been updated to the new release plans. Either way maybe a new beta will be out soon as June isn’t too far away.

Are you sure he didn’t mean June 2007?

Damn, that was going to be my joke. I’m not on the beta program but a friend showed me AGX and in its current state I’d say June isn’t going to happen unless they have progress way beyond the current beta (which could be the case as I haven’t seen it in a couple weeks).

Jack has to be wrong because what I saw at the Dev Summit isn’t close to a release and they even said they were going to change it. Maybe he’s talking about a public beta and not a real “release”.

Really needs some work, like everyone else suggests. Is the API hook for us .NET geeks available yet? If so, has anyone screwed around with it yet? It seems like a wonderful platform to build on but it’s very limiting since it’s desktop based.

ESRI confirmed “late June” for public beta for me today. As I recall Dangermond didn’t specify exactly what would be released in June in his comments, I believe he said “it.” This clarifies the point for us all.
