OK, here is the scoop on the ArcGIS Explorer domain name. It is a test to if it is blocked by your firewall because of the work “sex” in the url. I’m guessing that if they are testing it, it probably is being block and we can probably assume that it won’t be the official domain.

Sex? and GIS? That anyone would think to put these two words in the same sentence would obviously be the triumph of hope over experience. I did some disinterested research and Googled “arc gis explorer” with Images SafeSearch off and it returned….a disappointing selection of screen shots with a distinctly cartographic bent. Although it does make one think that if the boys from Mountain View wanted to have a little fun with the Redlands crowd some search engine tweaking could yield some very entertaining juxtapositions….

Reminds me years ago when trying to explain to a client about what ActiveX was, an Alta Vista (yea before Google I loved Alta Vista) revealed quite the list of “Active” “X-Rated” sites.
