IronPython and ESRI’s .NET Framework

IronPython LogoHas anyone looked at trying IronPython with the ArcGIS Server .NET Framework yet? I’m guessing it should work in theory, but I guess you just never know. Aaron Marten has a good post on getting IronPython integrated into VS 2005 IDE. With IronPython in Visual Studio, it is intriguing to think of the possibilities out there considering ESRI’s move into Python on Desktop.

I’m wondering if you’ve heard anything more about this since your post. Our organization has a significant investment in Python already for non-geospatial applications built in Zope/Plone, and it would be nice to leverage that skill set for ArcGIS Server development as well in .NET with Iron Python. However, it seems like this could be a bit bleeding edge right now since a search of the entire EDN site returns only one peripheral hit on IronPython.

Tell you what, I’ll ask about it at the Dev Summit.
