ArcGIS 9.2 Beta testers can log into the ESRI Beta site and download ArcGIS Explorer Beta 1. When you log in you should see a new area for ArcGIS Explorer downloads.
Note, the Public Beta will not be till at least March (I would assume the Business Partner Conference would be a good guess) as [...]

Tough Weekend of ArcWeb Explorer Beta
January 29th, 2006 · 2 Comments · ArcWeb, ESRI, GIS
The reviews are in and most seem to think that ArcWeb Explorer isn’t up to the task. Adena started off with a pretty light review, but that was about the best ArcWeb Explorer could hope for. Jithen brought up the speed and GUI issues (that most everyone noted) as well as it having [...]

ArcWeb Explorer Beta Is Out

I would have posted this much sooner today, but I was nowhere near an internet connection. Ever since I saw this demoed at the 2005 UC, I’ve been waiting to get my hands on it. Andrea has a nice post outlining what features are interesting with ArcWeb Explorer. You can give it [...]

Seems many bloggers are reporting that the 9.2 beta is beginning to show up on their desks this morning. I’m traveling for the rest of the week so I’m going to have to wait and see what the new .NET web ADF can do.
…or I can live though others. I hope to [...]

ESRI Improves Support Search
January 25th, 2006 · No Comments · ArcScripts, ESRI, ESRI Developer Network, GIS
It appears that ESRI has rolled out a new search tool for their support site. The new search also has a link at the top to perform the same search in EDN. One nice feature is that you can customize your search settings by product (ArcCad, ArcView 3.x, ArcWeb, etc), areas (ArcScripts, Data [...]

MapPoint Web Service 4.1 Support World Routing
January 24th, 2006 · 1 Comment · GIS, MapPoint, Virtual Earth
Interesting, the MapPoint.WorldRoutable data source allows you to create routes that span multiple countries and even continents. On top of that, the API supports 13 languages for driving instructions on these routes. The MSDN Library has more on this MapPoint Web Service so if you do live somewhere other than the United States, [...]

PostGIS 1.1.1 Has Been Released
January 23rd, 2006 · 2 Comments · GIS, PostGIS
PostGIS 1.1.1 is now available up on their website. It appears to be a minor release so I’m not sure if we’ll be rushing out to update just yet. Then again my DBA hasn’t been one to not pass up an update. Still waiting for locking and mult-versioning, but maybe that [...]

GML Supported ArcGIS 9.2 (KML Also)
January 20th, 2006 · 1 Comment · ArcGIS Desktop, ESRI, Extensions, GIS
In regards to my insistence that the Data Interoperability extension be included with ArcGIS ArcView by default, I’ve been emailed that at least OGC GML Simple Features data will supported without the extension license. Also that KML support will also be included with ArcGIS 9.2. The beta should be here next week so [...]

More on the Dev Summit Contest
January 19th, 2006 · 5 Comments · ESRI Developer Network, GIS
It looks like Steve and I were not synced up on our rules, but that is OK as the only rule set in stone is that we make the rules.
Anyway I assumed ArcIMS was included in the contest, but we didn’t spell it out so yes any ArcIMS application (.NET, CF, Java) is [...]

Andrea Rosso Posts ArcWeb 2006 Example
January 19th, 2006 · No Comments · ArcWeb, GIS
Andrea Rosso has posted an ArcWeb 2006 “mashup” on his blog. Nothing too crazy here, but it is a good example of how to update your existing v2 ArcWeb apps to work with the new ArcWeb 2006. I’ve got to get back to playing with ArcWeb 2006 as its been about a month [...]

Adena’s got a post up right now with the news. MapGuide Open Source is the “new” name and as an ex MapGuide developer, I’m glad to see the name stick around because MapGuide is a great name for a mapping product. Now the focus can be on what the MapServer Foundation should be [...]

ArcGIS Explorer Public Beta Slips
January 18th, 2006 · 1 Comment · ArcGIS Explorer, GIS
The latest word on ESRI’s ArcGIS Explorer is that the public beta won’t be available until second quarter 2006, rather than the January/1st Quarter time frame that was stated before. I’m guessing there is much work to be still done on it. Oh well….
